Lakers News: LA Listed Among Teams With Best Odds Of Landing Draymond Green
The Western Conference Finals showed that you Los Angeles Lakers were no match for Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets on the defensive end.
LA played tough and arguably had opportunities to win each game but in the end, they weren't able to make the big play or get the stop they needed to win. This offseason, the team is determined to get back to the same spot but change the results. This starts with upgrading the roster and one name is certainly interesting.
Long-time Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is set to hit free agency this summer and in DraftKings Sportsbook's latest odds, the Lakers are ranked second in line to sign Green.
It still seems most likely that Green ends up back with the Warriors, the only franchise he's ever konwn, but the Lakers do remain an intriguing option for the veteran. Green is extremely close with Lakers star LeBron James, with James talking previously about his want to play alongside Green. The four-time All-Star would bring some extra toughness to this Lakers team.
Additionally, Green and Anthony Davis would create one of the best frontcourts in the league. It's exactly the type of move that the Lakers could make to make themselves more formidable against the Nuggets and other top Western Conference teams next season. Green and Davis would cause issues for opponents and make it very tough for them on the offensive end.
Even in this dream scenario for the Lakers, they don't have the type of money that Green will probably be looking for. They would need to acquire his services via sign-and-trade and I doubt the Warriors would be jumping for joy to help Green get to Los Angeles.
This remains a highly unlikely scenario but you can never say never. Green in purple and gold would be incredible on the court and off. The headlines surrounding the Lakers would be insane and make for good content.
We will know pretty soon what the plans of both Green and the Lakers are as they enter this offseason. Free agency officially kicks off on July 1st.
